In 2015, the Frankfurt composer and producer RaHen, has turned to a new area of work. Next to the known 80s projects Axodry, Moskwa TV, Whispering Colours and Robotiko Rejekto, which successfully came into the picture lately and is still making progress, RaHen has concentrated on the work of his new ambient project PYRRHUS RAGE.
With the present album MEGATRONIA, Death Ambient Vol 1, he combined somber and threatening ambient sound surfaces with floating, but reduced beats. It was important to him not to create an overproduced sound, but instead achieve a reduction of a music that transports a maximum of psychic depth. Due to the use of partly backwards played sound collages combined with hypnotic audio lines, RaHen developed an apocalyptic music, that invites to an exploration of one's own self.
In any case, the album MEGATRONIA is no sideline stream, but links atmospheric audio landscapes with metal sounds and dark psychedelic voice lines, inducing to a more-in-depth soul journey.
The PYRRHUS RAGE project with the album MEGATRONIA is a recommendation for all music lovers, who are searching for a listening experience apart from the main stream taste. Unusual tonal structures and dark grooves are guaranteed.
After the first sound experimental Album MEGATRONIA of the project PYRRHUS RAGE was published, now in ….. 2015, the second album called THE STANZAS OF DZYAN will be released. Here too, RaHen – aka Ralf Henrich – worked mainly with end time sounding beats and immersed himself deep into the matter of esoteric philosophy around the person Helena Blavatsky.
In his second work, the musician and producer marvelously manages to merge hard electronic sequences, industrially pulsed noise with messages from “The Book of Dzyan” and a mysterious discourse of the philosopher, thereby creating an ambient and dark overall picture with words out of the cloud, landscapes and evolving pads.
Sometimes subtle, then again confronting in its expression, the look and feel of a mysterious ambient cluster always floats above the whole work.
Helena Petrowna Blavatsky was one of the most colorful personalities of the 19th century. Her exceptional demeanor, her inexhaustible knowledge and her pioneering ideas overwhelmed the spiritual world of her time with wonder, captivated and enriched it and gave impulses that have lasted unabated to the present day. Her pursued objective was to wake the spiritual human intuition and to keep it alive. She contributed significantly to overcoming the downright blind faith in science and the out-of-date dogmatism of the 19th century.
The album THE STANZAS OF DZYAN of the PYRRHUS RAGE project interprets those esoteric philosophical works in a new way and combines it with the ancient sound of creation.
At the beginning of 2016, there’s some new ear candy from the project PHYRRUS RAGE for you! After publishing the recent two works MEGATRONIA and THE STANZAS OF DZYAN, Ralf Henrich (RaHen) didn’t let time laps away and has jump-started a third brilliant album called THE BOOK OF LIES.
Superior motive of the collected titles: dubstep beats and basses meet techno drums. With very hypnotic and maddish noise elements, the musician describes his examination of an occult opus, of which some say: “Basic literature and Crowley are two terms that cannot be reconciled.” Everything revolves around Aleister Crowley (born in 1875) and his book The Book of lies published in 1913. In 93 chapters, each in itself seemingly obscure and bizarre, Crowley describes his complete philosophy in a form that isn’t just accessible to rational minds. The numeric value of the book is 333 which means “dissipation” and “lies”.
Aleister Crwoley (actually Edward Alexander Crowley, also Frater Perdurabo, Khaled Khan, Laird of Boleskine, To Mega Therion/1915 or The Great Beast 666) is considered to be one of the most influential occultists of the 20th century. He was experienced in numerous fields of occultism, like Cabbalism, Yoga, Tarot (together with Frieda Harris he developed a special deck of cards), astrology and of course ritual (sexual) magic, and he was initiated in the “Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn” in 1898 and in the English O.T.O. (Ordo Templis Orientalis) in 1912.
Crowley himself writes about his work: “At first sight the book is a jumble of nonsense intended to insult the reader. It requires infinite study, sympathy, intuition and initiation. Given these I do not hesitate to claim that in none other of my writings have I given so profound and comprehensive an exposition of my philosophy on every plane...."
The philosophy of Crowley mainly rests upon gnostic (antique, philosophico-theological epistemology) and cabbalistic (Jewish esoteric doctrine primarily operating with letters and numbers) elements, and in a rather attractive manner, leads them to the essence of all secret doctrines: the ever-hungry and self-indulgent ego finds fulfillment in the infinite. Nihilism, as well as strong sociopathic impulses and the lack of morals form the self-evident accessories in an entirely unspectacular way. Therefore, the book sums up what constitutes the actual ground of being beyond god and nature, and what descends upon someone who bids good bye to well-trodden tracks of religion and conventions.
PHYRRUS RAGE with THE BOOK OF LIES: an album which can be classified as minimal techno due to its aloofness, yet breaking the boundaries of this association with accelerated, pitched and broken up drums, dry distinctive beats and deep evil voices. It’s particularly appealing to listeners who want to take their time dealing with the artwork and find a quick access not worth their while….
